The thing that amazed me the most when I had the opportunity to visit it was that it was *not* primarily a dungeon or place of execution, but that it served many purposes (royal apartments, armaments storage, and even once held a menagerie). So many buildings full of history, all so close together. You really have evoked the spirit of it with your article.
